CS371p Week of 19 Oct-25 Oct
What did you do this past week?
I finished my allocator project this past week. It gave me a much better understanding of how a heap works which was very interesting indeed. I also had 3 exams this past week so I’m glad that is over as well. In class this week we talked about constructors, initializer lists, and the explicit keyword.
What’s in your way?
I need to get a lot of homework done this week so it will be another busy week, but I also need to practice implementing the my_vector class that we started on in class.
What will you do next week?
I will get started on the new project called Darwin and try to get it out of the way early and leave plenty of time to ask plenty of questions. I also need to find a partner for this next project as well so that I get the bonus points.
If you read it, what did you think of Ethical CS?
I really enjoyed reviewing the lecture, I think that it is very important that everyone in the workplace remains ethical and treats co-workers fairly. As the golden rule states, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”.
What was your experience of lambdas, initializations, std::initializer_list, and std::vector? (this question will vary, week to week)
I have a good amount of experience with these topics. I still need to review the meaning of explicit again to make sure that I use it correctly, but other than that I feel really good about these topics.
What made you happy this week?
I survived the long week of exams, and schoolwork so that’s always a good feeling to get those weeks out of the way.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick-of-the-week is LottieFiles, it allows you to create and design interactive animations for your websites. When I was in SWE this tool made it a lot easier for my group to develop our website.
