CS371p Fall 2020: Noah Lindley
Hello, welcome to my CS371p blog!
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Colleyville, TX for the first 14 years of my life. I then lived in Tampa Bay, FL, and Denton, TX.
What high school did you attend?
Plant City HS, Brandon HS, & Denton Ryan HS
What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?
In high school, I enjoyed playing baseball, running cross country, and golfing. I also enjoyed playing video games with my friends such as Call of Duty, Rust, and Counter-Strike
Why did you come to UT?
When I started at UT I was originally Mechanical Engineering and Cockrell was a great engineering school to be a part of.
Why are you majoring in CS?
I changed because I realized I enjoyed programming much more than regular engineering.
Why are you in this class?
I took CS371g this summer and I really enjoyed C++ so it made me want to take another C++ course.
What are your expectations of this class?
I’m expecting to become a better C++ programmer by using an OO approach to solving problems.
How much C++ do you already know?
I learned most of my C++ this past summer. I’d say I’m great with most of the syntax, but I’m still a beginner in the language.
How did you like the two lectures?
I really enjoyed them. It reminded me of the start of CS371g.
How did you feel about the cold calling?
I think it’s a great way to keep the students engaged. It’s hard to stay engaged in online courses, but I think it’s a must for courses to adopt this strategy to keep students active in the classroom.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
A powerful automation tool is IFTTT it allows you to query data and save it to a spreadsheet, update profile photos across all of your social media apps at once, and turn on your lights for you when you’re close to home.
