What did you do this past week?

I had a lot to do this past week, I had a very long and rigorous assignment due in my genetics CS class, an algorithms exam, a long homework due in my stats class, and the Darwin project. Thankfully all of that is over and I can try to get ahead on whatever next assignments are coming up!

What’s in your way?

Currently, I’ve completed all of my assignments so now I have time to relax for a bit before tomorrow starts.

What did you do this past week?

I finished my allocator project this past week. It gave me a much better understanding of how a heap works which was very interesting indeed. I also had 3 exams this past week so I’m glad that is over as well. In class this week we talked about constructors, initializer lists, and the explicit keyword.

I need to get a lot of homework done this week so it will be another busy week, but I also need to practice implementing the my_vector class that we started on in class.

What did you do this past week?

This past week I finished the voting assignment with my partner and got a project started for my biology systems class. I also took an exam on Wednesday for CS331 which was okay I think I did alright on it (which I’ll definitely take).

What did you do this past week?

In this past week of class, I finished the voting project & we learned about using addresses, references, & constants. I’ve been positive with COVID so it’s been really hard trying to keep up with school, but I’m managing.

I’m going to look over my project to ensure I have everything in the repo that I need to get full credit. I also have a midterm this week on Wednesday for Algorithms so we will see how it goes since it’s the first exam! …

What did you do this past week?

This past week we learned about try-catch blocks and the most efficient way to throw/catch them in a program. We also went on to discuss our new project which covers a system of voting called Score Voting. It seems like it’s going to be an interesting program to write with my partner. Lastly, we wrote a strcmp method that compares 2 C-strings this week.

What did you do this past week?

In class, we learned about meta, eager, and lazy caches. We also learned the difference between using pointers, references, and primitive data types in try-catch blocks. We also learned the most efficient and best way to reduce errors with try-catch blocks is to throw the object(makes a copy)and catch a reference to that object so that a second copy doesn’t have to be made.

This past week in class we learned a little bit about C++ such as the fact that the #include in statement isn’t analogous with Javas import statement. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Colleyville, TX for the first 14 years of my life. I then lived in Tampa Bay, FL, and Denton, TX.

What high school did you attend?

Plant City HS, Brandon HS, & Denton Ryan HS

What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

In high school, I enjoyed playing baseball, running cross country, and golfing. I also enjoyed playing video games with my friends such as Call of Duty, Rust, and Counter-Strike

Why did you come to UT?

When I started at UT I was originally Mechanical Engineering and Cockrell was a great engineering school to be a part of.

How well do you think the course conveyed those takeaways?

Professor Downing does a great job of explaining new topics and keeping his students engaged in the topics we learned about in this class. I think what helped the most especially with the online format of classes for me is that Downing calls on every student he has through the roster of the class. This keeps students on their toes and ready to answer questions.
